Dr. Timothy “Brice” McMurphy was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1986. He grew up in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he started his education at Popp's Ferry Elementary School, Fernwood Middle School, and graduated from Biloxi High School in 2005. While at Biloxi High he played both baseball and football and began developing his interest in dentistry at an early age. Dr. McMurphy then received a full academic scholarship to attend Louisiana State University, where he was in Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences in 2009.
Dr. McMurphy attended dental school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, where he held leadership positions in numerous organizations, and saw his research published in the journal Dental Materials. After graduating dental school in 2014 he moved back to Baton Rouge, where he completed a 2-year General Practice Residency at LSU, serving as Chief Resident from 2015-2016. In this residency he received advanced clinical training in all fields of dentistry including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, restorative, sedation, and implant dentistry. However, he knew his true passion was Orthodontics, so he continued to pursue his dream in this dental specialty.
Dr. McMurphy attended the Georgia School of Orthodontics in Atlanta, where he received a 3 years of specialty training in traditional orthodontics, clear aligners, and dentofacial orthopedics. His career also includes private practice experience from 2015-2019 as a general dentist at a variety of dental practices in Louisiana and Georgia.
His surgical and restorative background focused his attention to detail on highly esthetic smiles. He loves recontouring teeth and gums to artistically sculpt that perfect smile. Dr. McMurphy is most passionate about building relationships with patients and their families on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. His goal is to have a lasting positive impact on their lives. His life mission statement is to "Create smiles that inspire others to live courageously and achieve their dreams." He hopes that each patient who visits Wakham & McMurphy Orthodontics receives a one-of-a-kind experience and leaves feeling better than when they walked in.
Dr. McMurphy has been married to his beautiful wife Kendall for 5 years, and they have two rambunctious (and super cute) West Highland terriers, Porter and Cooper. When not on adventures with those 3, in his free time he is a Green Egg grill enthusiast and inspiring mediocre golfer. He loves all things sports, rooting for his LSU Tigers, traveling, trying new foods and restaurants, working out, watching Netflix/Hulu/HBO, listening and learning from podcasts and audiobooks, and spending time outdoors.
